Working with the Global Matrix Atrtistic Team

A day working with the Global Matrix Artistic Team. We were working on a special hairstyling show called ‘Dare To Imagine’ proudly put on by Matrix Australia.

The day started at 8.30am at the L’Oreal Studios in Unley. First up was a team meeting on how the day was going to go and a brief on some of the models and their styles. There were 8 beautiful models aged between 20 years and 60 years. The team which included Australian Hairdressing greats Benni Tognini and Sue Morgan was divided up and allocated a model. Each model was then personally consulted. The consultation focused on how the hair would be styled including the cut and colour. The models were about to be treated to the finest quality of personal hair attention. All models had to be ready by 3.30pm.

The first model we met had the longest hair I had ever seen. It was all the way down her back and past her bottom. She was willing to do something dramatic. She was going to go from her extremely long hair all the way to a short edgy style.

Another model named Helen who is a wonderful lady in her 50′s was excited to be apart of the show and looking forward to the experience of a style transformation. She had blonde hair and blue eyes. When Helen’s hair was finished she looked amazing. We transformed her colour to a beautiful golden warm copper with an element of cream blonde. She also had some thicker piecey bright copper foils that were placed underneath so they shattered through.

Now to the Show…….So we were off to the Playford Sebel Hotel in Adelaide, in the Ballroom.

Star stylist Benni Tognini began the show with Helen on stage. Using his amazing and creative skills he sculptured a magnificent style and not only complemented her beautiful new colour but also her face and her look. You could feel his passion for hair as he worked his magic while the large audience watched on. The model with the extremely long hair had all her hair cut off. It was clipper short across the back. Such an extraordinary change from her long her. She looked amazing.

It was an honour to be apart of such an event and be able to work with such amazing and creative stylists. When you love doing hair as much as we do, nights like this put us in our element and allow us to grow and learn as stylists.

A Night With A Hair Artist

It was a cold August winter’s night. Matrix were holding their NEW colour launch at the trendy Cremorne Hotel on Unley Road. It was a night full of style, glamour, laughter and education.

We were all surprised when they announced a special guest hair stylist for the night. Out came Mr Peter Dorio. The Australian renowened Matrix educator and owner of Sochi Hair received a huge welcome with cheers and woos of excitement. His stage presence was amazing with an abundance of energy. He transcended his mood to everyone and it was easy and uplifting to see his passion for hairdressing.

On stage he transformed 6 models with amazing style and fashion. From a normal plain Jane bob to a textured full of life modern bob. He went on to show everyone other techniques including curling hair with Soda cans, popsticks and pegs. His work was extremely creative, a little unstructured but all together very wearable, playful and fun.

The  haircuts and styles also always complemented the amazing colours in the hair. It was a great night with a bit of everything.

Congress Award Winners

Congratulations to Rachel from Rocktan Hair for her award at the National Congress. This year the national event was held in Adelaide at the Crown Plaza in the centre of the city. She won an amazing trophy for her amazing work with the help of her model Simon. It was an amazing night with many great stylists received many awards. The trophies were beautiful as can be seen in the photos below. Congratulations again to them both and Rocktan Hair is very proud of Rachel’s work.

Intercoiffure Congress

The annual National Australian Intercoiffure Congress was held here in Adelaide at the Crown Plaza. It was a glamorous night with an array of styles put on show. Along with the amazing hair styles, the beautiful models were dressed by local designer Jaimie Sortino. Here is a glimpse of some of the festivities and the hair styles put on by the South Australian artistic hair styling teams. It was an amazing Adelaide Hair event.

Cotton Candy Hair

A special event held at Heaven Nightclub in Adelaide called CLIQUE was an amazing candy affair. It was a special VIP/invite only event focussed around fashion, and networking. The Sunday night launch was headed by special guest Alexandra Richards (Keith Richards Daughter/International supermodel). Rocktan Hair was involved with doing the Cotton Candy hair for the models. It was a great night with great hair.
